What this role is really testing
The project
Lean Process Audit & Waste Reduction Dashboard
A single-page interactive spreadsheet dashboard that maps a simple multi-step production or fulfillment process, flags the seven Lean wastes found in it, and models the time and cost savings from proposed corrective actions. This maps directly to the role because it demonstrates hands-on application of Lean principles, root cause thinking, and the kind of data-driven continuous improvement GE Aerospace explicitly asks interns to practice.
- Pick any real, observable multi-step process you have access to, a campus dining line, a library book-request workflow, a retail checkout, or a campus print shop, and time each step across at least 10 cycles. Record raw cycle times, wait times, defect or redo events, and headcount in a structured table with clearly labeled columns (Step Name, Cycle Time, Wait Time, Defect Count, Operator Count).
- Build a value-stream summary sheet that calculates value-added time vs. non-value-added time for each step, auto-flags which of the seven Lean wastes (Overproduction, Waiting, Transport, Over-processing, Inventory, Motion, Defects) apply using conditional formatting or a dropdown tag, and runs a simple root cause column using the '5-Why' format written directly into cells beside each flagged waste.
- Add a 'Corrective Action Simulator' section where changing a proposed cycle-time reduction or defect-rate improvement for any step instantly updates two summary metrics, projected throughput increase (%) and estimated annual labor-hour savings, using formulas, then create one bar chart comparing current-state vs. future-state total process time so a recruiter can see the impact of your recommendations at a glance.

Questions
Do I need to know how to code?
No. For roles like this one, Provieo builds the project as a live case-study page: slides, tables and findings you fill in. You bring the thinking.
Where did this project come from?
Provieo read the GE Aerospace posting and generated it on 2026-10-16. If you paste the same posting yourself you may get a different project, so two applicants don't show up with the same one.
Is Provieo connected to GE Aerospace?
No. This is an independent project idea based on a public posting. It does not guarantee an interview.
