What this role is really testing
The project
Regional Sales Performance Dashboard & Enablement Brief
A polished Excel or Google Sheets dashboard built on a realistic mock B2B safety-products dataset that tracks territory revenue, quota attainment, pipeline coverage, and win rates by product line, paired with a one-page written enablement brief that translates the dashboard findings into three concrete recommendations for a sales leader. This directly mirrors the intern's daily tasks, supporting sales reporting, analyzing performance metrics, and producing enablement resources that help a team sell more effectively.
- Create a mock dataset of 40–60 rows representing six sales reps across three territories selling fictional industrial safety SKUs (PPE, fall protection, respiratory). Columns should include: rep name, territory, product line, Q1 quota, Q1 actual revenue, pipeline value, number of open opportunities, and deal stage. Populate it with realistic variation, some reps over quota, some under, one territory with a large pipeline but low close rate, so the data tells a story worth analyzing.
- Build a one-tab summary dashboard on a second sheet using pivot tables, SUMIF/AVERAGEIF formulas, and native charts (bar chart for quota vs. actual by territory, pie or donut for revenue mix by product line, a simple pipeline coverage ratio calculated as pipeline ÷ remaining quota). Add conditional formatting to flag reps below 75% attainment in red and above 100% in green. Title every visual clearly, label axes, and include a header row that shows four KPI tiles: total revenue, average quota attainment %, overall pipeline coverage ratio, and top-performing territory.
- Write a one-page enablement brief (in Google Docs or as a second tab formatted for print) titled 'Q1 Sales Performance Snapshot & Recommendations.' Structure it with three sections: (1) What the data shows, two or three bullet observations pulled directly from your dashboard, e.g., 'Territory West has 3.2× pipeline coverage but only a 22% close rate, suggesting a qualification or follow-up gap'; (2) Recommended actions, three specific, actionable steps a sales leader could take, tied to the data; (3) Suggested enablement resource, propose one concrete asset (e.g., an objection-handling guide for the low-close territory) that would address the biggest gap identified. Keep the brief to one page, use 3M's color palette (red, black, white, grey) to signal brand awareness, and format it so a recruiter can read it in 60 seconds.

Questions
Do I need to know how to code?
No. For roles like this one, Provieo builds the project as a live case-study page: slides, tables and findings you fill in. You bring the thinking.
Where did this project come from?
Provieo read the 3M posting and generated it on 2026-10-16. If you paste the same posting yourself you may get a different project, so two applicants don't show up with the same one.
Is Provieo connected to 3M?
No. This is an independent project idea based on a public posting. It does not guarantee an interview.
